Civil Rights

As American citizens, we are all entitled to equal protection under the law. It is illegal to discriminate against an individual because of skin color, sex, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, religion, national origin, familial status, or age.

Unfortunately, despite the strong protections encoded into our legal system too many people find these rights to be an illusory promise. So many areas of our social and legal framework continue to operate in ways that routinely deny basic civil rights to our fellow citizens.

The reasons and types of discrimination are many and are a fact of life in all areas of life. This is why it is so important to work in a constant battle to exercise the rights given to us and seek to vigorously enforce them whenever they are violated. The goal of a society free of all forms of discrimination is clear, but how to get there and when that is accomplished is not.

An attorney may be able to help against powerful institutions resistant change or operating in violation of laws against discrimination. Some of the areas that are routinely subject to legal action are:

  • Educational Institutions (Schools)
  • Workplace and Employment Discrimination
  • Law Enforcement and the Criminal Justice System
  • Medical Providers
  • Public Retail and Entertainment Businesses
  • Housing
  • Financial Institutions

Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your situation if you feel an attorney is needed to ensure your rights are protected.
